Martin Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 recently came across some good notes on relativistic quantum mechanics on the web. http://www.physics.gla.ac.uk/~dmiller/lectures/RQM.pdf "everything should be as simple as possible, but not more" this is about right. organized and very pictorial (so one can learn visually). has nice pictures of people like Schrödinger and Maxwell. has lots of feynman diagrams 95 pages. could be useful to several of us at SFN. (won't go into chain of accidents leading to my coming across the notes)
Skye Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Aggh, my brain! Here's the contents: Rough outline of topics Non-relativistic Quantum Mechanics ---The Schrodinger equation Relativistic Quantum Mechanics ---The Klein-Gordon Equation, The Dirac Equation, Angular Momentum and Spin, Symmetries of the Dirac Equation Quantum Electrodynamics ---Classical Electromagnetism, The Dirac Equation in an electromagnetic field Scattering and Perturbation Theory ---The QED Feynman rules, cross-sections, crossing symmetry, identical particles, the fermion propagator, decay rates Quantum Chromodynamics ---Quarks, gluons and color, renormalisation, running couplings It's aimed at grad students, so I'd say you'd have to have done basic QM before reading it (it only spends two pages on it).
5614 Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Didn't one of our members write that? I think I remember it from a thread a week or two back. I spose it does deserve it's own thread though.
Martin Posted November 5, 2005 Author Posted November 5, 2005 Didn't .... write that?. anonymity is a nice feature of boards like this----adds to the fun. pretend you never saw that other post I'm serious 5614. If you can still edit your post you could just erase the spilled bean or the escaped cat. If it is too late for you to, maybe someone else will blank out a word or two for you. We've got to give our highly trained and qualified staff all the perks we can---what else is there to offer
5614 Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 I just thought that giving the credit to the guy that wrote it would be nice... but fair enough, Phi for All edited my post, it's way gone the 4hour limit so I can't anyway.
