Douglas Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 President Bush is about to spend 7 billion in preparation for a possible pandemic. Some of the usual suspects like Kennedy and Pelosi claim it too little too late, others say it's an over reaction. There's also an issue on whether the Feds have complete responsibility, or if the States should chip in. Any thoughts? With a public increasingly jittery about the H5N1 spread among birds and a drumbeat of criticism that the nation is woefully unprepared, President Bush on Tuesday outlined a $7.1 billion strategy to get ready for the next pandemic. http://apnews.myway.com//article/20051102/D8DKFSSO0.html
Pangloss Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Overreaction. We lose how many people to smoking every day? And do what about it? My guess is these vaccines will also be MANDATORY. On and on and on it goes, backing our way into socialism.

Aardvark Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 My guess is these vaccines will also be MANDATORY. Doubtful' date=' esp as there won't be enough vaccines for every person. On and on and on it goes, backing our way into socialism. Stockpiling flu vaccines equals socialism! What paranoid fantasy are you living in?
Pangloss Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Insulting your opponent isn't really the best approach to fertilizing a good debate. As I pointed out in another thread yesterday, this has already come up -- they want to make the cervical cancer vaccine mandatory.
