Scanning Tunneling Electron Microscope

I am reserching Scanning Tunneling Electron Microscopes, what are pro's and con's of them?

 

any help would be appreciated, thanks for any help.

Well the advantages would be that it allows us to see and position atoms with great accuracy and detail.

 

It also allows us to add/remove electrons (create ions) which can cause a reaction.

 

As for disadvantages, well, they usually operate in a very strong vacuum (which usually falls under the category of Ultrahigh Vacuum, ie. a pressure lower than 100 nanopascals). Sometimes they use very low temperatures as well.
