Loki Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 I'm starting the class monday. For those who have taken it, then what's it like? how is it compared to calc 1&2? i dunno, just start talking about calc 3. -edit- sorry about this being in the number theory forum, i'm sure you all know where I MEANT to put it. =P my mistake
Tom Mattson Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 What's this doing in the Number Theory Forum? Anywho... Calculus III typically has: *Vectors and curves in the plane *Vectors in space and solid analytic geometry *Functions of several variables (this is where you meet the partial derivative) *Multiple integration *Vector analysis (grad, div, curl, divergence theorem, stokes' theorem) *Intro to differential equations (if there is time)
Dave Posted August 24, 2003 Posted August 24, 2003 Differential equations are mainly easy at a basic level. Vectors are a pain in my opinion. Partial derivation/multiple (i presume double, maybe triple) integration is pretty cool, allows you to find tangents to planes, volumes under planes and the like.
Dave Posted August 24, 2003 Posted August 24, 2003 It's what double integration's all about. It's not terribly exciting to be honest
