alt_f13 Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 Hacker friend of mine found this. http://beatles.cselt.it/mirrors/jargon/jargon_50.html Go here^. Seems to me many of you will fit the bill, I did.
YT2095 Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 OMG that`s totaly amazing! apart from the beer part it`s a match. worst part is though my Wife fits it too! and the handwriting part is just TOO funny we got 3 cats btw.
Dave Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 Hackerdom easily tolerates a much wider range of sexual and lifestyle variation than the mainstream culture. It includes a relatively large gay and bisexual contingent. Hackers are somewhat more likely to live in polygynous or polyandrous relationships, practice open marriage, or live in communes or group houses. In this, as in general appearance, hackerdom semi-consciously maintains `counterculture' values. I have to say I don't quite fit that part of it
alt_f13 Posted August 23, 2003 Author Posted August 23, 2003 I fit that entire thing... minus being gay, dirty, and living with a bunch of other hackers... Edit - Oh yah, I like my beer too. Ever had Rickards Red, YT? Very smooth, perfect sweetness. No monkey piss super alchoholic sweetness most Molsens have.
YT2095 Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 well yeah, the gay bit`s out the question, and I`m monogomous so`s ma wife. alt_f13, can`t say I have to be honest. I`ve tried beers from around the world but that one doesn`t ring a bell. Baltika 9 was my fave when I was in Russia though, it`s a beautiful beer, 8% but still crisp and refreshing, non of this syrup stuff that`s technicaly a wine.
Dudde Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 what a bunch of bull monkey:-p well..okay it's probably mostly true, and most of it is, ...that's creepy...he's stereotyped the hacker...correctly...CRAZY! except I don't deal with the opposite sex except my friends, and I prefer dogs to cats:-p much more fun^_^
Sayonara Posted August 24, 2003 Posted August 24, 2003 Replace the word "hacker" with "internet geek" and it all works. I mean, for god's sake, everyone who said "ooh that fits me perfectly, wow", keep your hand in the air if you have ever used usenet.

Rickards is a Canadian label brewed by Molsen. Once I tried it I've not found anything I like better. And it's the same color as your mug icon.
YT2095 Posted August 24, 2003 Posted August 24, 2003 Sayonara, usenet, fluffynet,JANET, and even ran my own BBS back in the 80`s (2400 baud) had a MASSIVE 10meg HDD too so ma hand`s still up in the air
YT2095 Posted August 24, 2003 Posted August 24, 2003 hehehehe. Original space invaders still kicks a$$
Dave Posted August 24, 2003 Posted August 24, 2003 space invaders is overrated, never liked that game
YT2095 Posted August 24, 2003 Posted August 24, 2003 how `bout pong/tennis the 1970`s atari version, that`s at least gotta come a close second though 2 bats 1 ball, and a score each... takes some beating for playablity in my book
Sayonara Posted August 24, 2003 Posted August 24, 2003 YT2095 said in post #11 :Sayonara, usenet, fluffynet,JANET, and even ran my own BBS back in the 80`s (2400 baud) had a MASSIVE 10meg HDD too so ma hand`s still up in the air \o/ 10 megs!!!!!!!!11112 \o/
Dave Posted August 24, 2003 Posted August 24, 2003 there's a version of that (in colour) on my dad's nokia, can't remember which phone he's got though offhand.
Dudde Posted August 25, 2003 Posted August 25, 2003 unfortunately, usenet was before my time...*sniff*
Dave Posted August 25, 2003 Posted August 25, 2003 I used to use it a bit in the 'early days' about 6 yrs ago, but I don't use it at all now. It always seemed too complicated for me tbh.
YT2095 Posted August 25, 2003 Posted August 25, 2003 Sayonara, yup, it was half the size of a breifcase and a bit taller I bought it second hand from a mate that upgraded to 20 meg !!! AND bought himself (or rather his mother did) a US Robotics Courier 14.4 modem! didn`t even think it was possible in those days and it wasn`t much smaller than the HDD he sold me ) he also lumbered her with a £2000+ fone bill ( we got plenty good pirate s/ware from him though
Dave Posted August 25, 2003 Posted August 25, 2003 The sad thing was that I had a 14.4 modem until about 2 years ago :\
