rohit Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 guys wat is the diff between a chromrosome and a chromatid i think that durin cell division a the dna in the chromosome divides to form two chromatids. is this true pls tell me im realyy confused
ecoli Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 a chromasome is a pair of chromatids, so you technically right. Two chromatids come together to form a single chromasome
Aubiegirl Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 If you're ever in doubt about how many chromosomes are in a cell at a given time (it can be confusing because a chromosome can have either one or two chromatids depending on its mitotic state) a good rule of thumb is to count the centromeres.
