sepultallica Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 man, ive been walkin around for the last few days feeling like hell. ive had static electricity all over me. i dont think its originating from my clothes either. i take a shower, put on my clothes in the morning and there it is all day. at night, i take another shower and hop in to bed and there it is again, in my sheets. i wake up in the middle of the night to use the restroom and i feel it on my arms and legs. i havent used any new laundry methods and the linen and clothing. same stuff i had from the previous weeks laundry. i dont live near power line or anything. it sucks! anyone have experience with this? anyone know how to get rid of it?
5614 Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 err, well if you are electrostatically charged then earth yourself, ie. touch some metal so that the extra charge on you flows off you and onto the metal.
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 I find that the little screws on light switches are nice, as they are connected to the grounded part of the circuit. Mainly from personal experience in a low-humidity home, zapping myself.
Klaynos Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 the metal backs of computers are genrally grounds so is a good option...
ecoli Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 I've seen sprays and stuff that are supposed to work... never used them, myself.
sepultallica Posted November 22, 2005 Author Posted November 22, 2005 usually ill just wipe some water on my arms and legs while im at work. if im at home, ill take a shower but it always comes back. im pretty sure it aint my clothes cuz i change quite a bit and at night i dont wear much to bed but sure enough, there it is.
ecoli Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 water wouldn't do too much to draw charges off your clothes...
sepultallica Posted November 22, 2005 Author Posted November 22, 2005 i guess im referring to the effects it has on my leg and arm hairs. that's how i feel it on me.
Bluenoise Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 I'd suggest getting a humidifier. Ever notice how this static thing is usually a winter problem?
ffsjoe Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 you just need to earth the charge as others have said, or shave your legs
insane_alien Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 wear nylon. then zap people. i love it when i get staticly charged
