silkworm
I heard that evolution was suposedly 'refuted' by the second law of thermodynamics. I don't understand this phrase, because if it were refuted, we wouldn't study it anymore. But I just wonder what can be said about it evolution versus 2nd law of TD. Hahahaha. Don't waste your time on that argument, it assumes many misperceptions about the thermodynamics. One part misinterprets entropy and another part comes to the conclusion that the energy required for evolution would cause the Earth to melt. I've heard it myself and it was so freaking misinformed and silly I don't want to go through it again. I do know that I have broken down this argument on more than one occasion because it's a canned argument (and an invalid one just on the basis that the ID side does not understand it's own position with it) So seriously, it's a waste of time but if you really want to know there are many websites out there that offer canned arguments for ID supporters. I ran into one earlier today that offers a 20 DVD set of debates full of canned arguments for the discount price of $127 down from $169 if you really have no self respect or place any value on your time. bascule
I believe everything you just said. However, I recently heard something I have never heard before. I heard that evolution was suposedly 'refuted' by the second law of thermodynamics. I don't understand this phrase, because if it were refuted, we wouldn't study it anymore. But I just wonder what can be said about it evolution versus 2nd law of TD. Uhhhh, that's the stupidest argument ever. Life creates a ton of entropy in the process of building order. Just look at how much you have to eat every day to survive. That whole process increases entropy. Ultimately we're all tied together in an enormous supply chain that ends with chloroplasts harvesting energy from the sun. And the sun, being an enormous nuclear incinerator, is increasing in entropy all the time. So yes, life builds order, but does it by increasing entropy. brad89
Thank god! When I talked with some pastor, he told me evolution was disproven by the 2nd law of thermodynamics. I didn't believe it at first, but I knew that I had heard it before, so I didn't know what to think. As long as that doesn't disprove evolution, I am glad as hell! Oh yeah, while I am at it, I may as well also ask about Carbon dating being proven wrong. He used such an argument trying to prove genesis. Ignorance...
