cobra Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 quick help please... does anyone know why dye solutions must be boiling hot? also, what is the relationship between chromatography and solubility?
RyanJ Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 1) Its probably becuase the reaction occurs faster in a hot substance or the activation energy for the reaction is quite high. 2) The greater the solubility of the dye the further up the testing sheet the dyes will travel, the lower their solubility the lower they will go up the sheet.
