Firefox 1.5?

I was just wondering if you guys are using Firefox 1.5, and what you think of it so far. I've heard it's buggy so I've been a little hesitant to upgrade from 1.4 that I'm using now. Is it worth it or should I hold out a bit and wait for some patches?

I haven't had any problems with it during my use now. The update system works fine now (there were a few problems during the RCs) and all has been well.

 

I'd recommend you update. Things are a bit faster and I like drag-and-drop tabs.

On the topic of Firefox a lot of interesting features are planned for 2.0, look out IE and Opera

Like I siad there is a lot not on that list but lets just say Firefox is already the leading browser in standards support and will soon push the boundaries even further

Actually Opera is a bit better, and Safari just passed Acid2. But each release of FF is getting a lot better, especially compared to what IE7 will do compared to IE6...

When did Safari drop Acid1? anyway... I do indeed like Safari when using macs. It's a hundred times more user accesable then IEmac.

Back to Firefox 1.5 - I'm having no problems, and have even been using it since Deer Park; even back then it was surprisingly stable.

 

The only minor niggle I've found is that once in a few hundred times, when right-clicking repeatedly on a page (I do it while I'm browsing ), the contextual menu will sometimes jump for no apparent reason. But that is quite blatently a very minor issue.

Actually no, Opera had a lower standards rating than Firefox (Just!)....

Firefox has the higher rating (Because it did when the beta version was added) and thus even though some of the features have not yet been tested Firefox still beat Opera.

Overall Firefox won with Opera a close second and its not even worth mentioning IE in this context as it is so far behind...

I think we can safely agree that Opera supports more HTML and Firefox more CSS.

HTML Firefox: 83% Opera: 88%

CSS Firefox: 65% Opera: 62%

 

But that's minor. We can also safely say that Firefox 1.5 has gotten a lot better than 1.0 in standards support, and I haven't had any bugs so far.

Yup, have you read what they intend for V2.0? All the latest standards are going to be complied with... thats going to be some job

You sure you dont mean 1.04 and 1.07 and actually in the other order?

 

Anyway 1.5 is great because of its new caching, you really can tell the difference when clicking the back and forward buttons. The canvas element is something that I have recently been playing around with, a script I wrote actually got slashdotted a while back! No problems with it at all.
