wormholeman Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 I would like to know why people find relativity interesting. I find relativity interesting because It has a lot to do with fact that its meaning proses to relation. There are so many words in any language that are related to one another. Example: relation, relative, relativity, relationship, relate, and relative. I think that is awsome! But It seems to me that the more it is cut down to size, relative would be more of an accurate definition. That mabey why Einstien chose to call it relativity. Any thoughts?
ecoli Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Because he's theory was about how time is relative, in a relationship to speed.
danny8522003 Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 And how motion needs to be defined by a specific frame of reference.
ecoli Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 you know, you're questions would probably be better answered by looking up old threads or a google search.
starbug1 Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Is this a question of relativity, or semantics?
wormholeman Posted December 18, 2005 Author Posted December 18, 2005 Is this a question of relativity, or semantics? Only Relativity. I should have rephrased the question. I ment to ask why you (the individual), not people in general, are interested in relativity. edit: Thats why at the beginning of this thread I explained why I am interested in it.
Galileo Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 That mabey why Einstien chose to call it relativity. Einstein wasn't the first to call it relativity. Einstein learned of the relativity principle from reading the works of Henri Poincaré. http://www-cosmosaf.iap.fr/Poincare-RR3A.htm http://www.dmoz.org/Science/Physics/Relativity/Special_Relativity/
bharatiyedu Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 HI,\ einstein is very smart guy. i quiet like his theory of relativity but i odnt think the definition is more accurete and the way they named it should be different.
