why? Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Can you please tell me how our posts are counted because i dont seem to get the method. Also i have seen people with animation in their display picture. But somehow i couldnt do it so i was just wondering if there was a certain way.
ecoli Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Posts are counted starting with 0 (which represents 0 posts) then increasing by another integer for every additional post you make (the exception being for posts made in the general discussion board, which don't count towards your post count because they generally aren't scientific posts. anyone can have an animated avatar, you just need to upload an animated gif file.
why? Posted December 16, 2005 Author Posted December 16, 2005 What about this? http://www.friday-fun.com/files/smilies/loser.gif P.S. This post also didnt count as my post number is still 55.
ecoli Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 What about this? http://www.friday-fun.com/files/smilies/loser.gif Should work... try it. P.S. This post also didnt count as my post number is still 55. possibly posts in the suggestion/comments board don't count towards the post count either. but, I've never noticed that before.
why? Posted December 16, 2005 Author Posted December 16, 2005 You may not upload animated images. Here is the message. Somehow this kind of stuff always happens to me only. I mean in all the forums i visit.. somehow all the bad things happen to me only.
ecoli Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 perhaps try saving the image to your computer first and uploading it directly from your harddisk... I'm just guessing now, but perhaps that would work??
why? Posted December 16, 2005 Author Posted December 16, 2005 The image is an animation. You cant save it to your computer and then still have the animation left. Atleast that wat i know. Please comment on this people who know comps.
ecoli Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 The image is an animation. You cant save it to your computer and then still have the animation left. That's obviously not true, considering the fact that I just did it.
why? Posted December 16, 2005 Author Posted December 16, 2005 It still says you may not upload animation pictures. you attached the file. But i dont think you can do that with your avatar.
ecoli Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 hey, I just tried it out on my own avatar, and I got the same message, which makes absolutely no sense, because obviosuly some people have animated avatars.
ecoli Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Exactly my point. Please forgive me for doubting you.
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Hrm. I have a feeling that those who currently have animated avatars were "grandfathered in" because they had uploaded them long ago, and some configuration setting has been changed (accidentally or purposefully) to prevent animated avatars now.
why? Posted December 16, 2005 Author Posted December 16, 2005 Well if that is the case then either we should be allowed or their's should not be allowed.
Dave Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 That should be fixed now. I've enabled animated gifs for avatars.
