No matter what I do, Google won't list any of my web sites under the keywords that I want. Why isn't their spider reading the keywords in my META tags? I have good keywords and have been linked to from other web sites. Yet, Google just won't list them.

I keep submitting my web sites to the search engines. I've been on top at MSN, Yahoo, Alexa, and all the other major search engines. Yet, I can't ever get listed on Google. I don't understand why so many people use Google because their spider has obviously been stepped on too many times!

Hi,

That probably shows the reason why it is the best search engine. I mean, even very good websites would have to compete to get to the top there. The competition there is probably too good. Why don't you try attracting traffic, ads, newsletters n' stuff to promote your website?

I think google works by counting the number of link people have to your site, so more people have to link to your site.

google also works by seeing who links to your site. A new site will get hardly any traffic and few links, so it won't show up on google. You need to build up your site to get it on google. My stat/calc teacher's math site is the first one on google when you type his name, and it's a pretty common name, because it has good info and people use it

when a google spider crawls a page, it also crawls any pages that its linked to. th emore pages you have linked to your site the more likely it will be crawled.

Let me just use BlueAlan as an example, because I've talked about it before in this forum. If you go to Google and search for "BlueAlan", you will see the web site. The META description listed on Google is "We create software that will revolutionize the future of computers."

Now, if you do a phrase search for "We create software that will revolutionize the future of computers" you will see a message that says no results were found. How can this be? I know it is in the index because I can find it if I search for "BlueAlan".

If I do the same phrase search on any other search engine that has my site in the index, the search engine will display me site. However, Google will not show it. I don't understand why Google won't list my site.

Google kind of makes me mad as well. It archived my site once, like a year ago, and now the cache is of an old version.

But google's crawed my site sense and for some reason decided not to update it!

On the other hand yahoo visit smy site much less oftain and has the latest version.

I dont really care about ratings because the terms "Jeremy Azevedo" and 1veedo get you to my site on most search engines. Google is the exception to this.(heh, google jeremy azevedo and you'd think I was a member of beer advocate :P )

Google doesn't even look at keywords any more. It looks at actual content, and it doesn't let you search META descriptions. You can't search for the META description for a site and get that site, unless it's also included in that site.

At least I think that's how it works.

To be honest, msn is more of a directory than a spider search engine.

Alexia i associate with spyware and looks also like a directory search that a spider

To be on google's first page or top link in a search you have to have people hitting your site ( note: UNIQUE IPS ) from google otherwise it sits at the bottom :)

all imho of course
