Liquids that react to air

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

just wondering if there are any liquids that react to oxygen or air and is not harmful to humans?

thanks

I don't think that such a liquid exists. Anything, which is so reactive, that it reacts with air, certainly is dangerous to humans (or in fact: any life form).

umm, i know very little about chemistry, but technically, limewater "reacts" to air, or ratehr the C02 in air, to form a precipitate.

I doubt thats the kind of answer your looking for but it fits the brief none the less.

Im sure there must be more examples, nothing violent im sure, but reactions are reactions. (i hope :D)

But limewater is not a liquid. It's a solution of one thing dissolved in another. There are MANY solutions that react with air but are somewhat harmless to humans, but I do not know of ANY liquids (I.E. a pure substance) that reacts with air and is non-toxic/harmful.

*turns around and walks out the door, whistling*

liquid sodium will react with air

glue reacts with O-radicals :D
