Primarygun Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 My computer got a terrible error. More Precisely, there are two errors. My computer reboots on and off. This is the terrible symptom I experience. When I check the BIOS, I noticed two things. There are two pre-boot errors. Pre-boot error: Memory size decreased Pre-boot error: Keyboard not functional Does anyone have idea? I've bought a new keyboard with the connection USB instead of the old PS2. Recently, my computer reboots even at the BIOS panel. I am afraid the situation is worsening.
1veedo Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 It keeps rebooting then most likely the motherboard is coroded, grounded (metal screws?)...the circuits are crazy. The kewboard might be malfunctioning and causing short circuits or something. I had a similar problem a while back and had to buy a whole new bare bone. The new computer kicks ass though. http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/showthread.php?t=10777#5
Klaynos Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 I would also suggest the possibility of a heat issue. Some computers when they get too warm restart/shutdown...
Easybeat Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 It could be anyone of a hundred things but start with the simple stuff first. Reset the CMOS as it may be just a bad setting. Check the CPU temperature in the BIOS, if its over 60C it could well be the problem. Remove and re-seat all components. Remove individual components one at a time and keep re-booting until you find a culprit. Remove the mobo from the case to see if there is a short. Also does the system beep more than one short beep upon boot up? if so how many? Using beep codes is a good way to solve problems.
