DALLAS -- Southern Methodist University shut down a bake sale Wednesday in which cookies were offered for sale at different prices, depending on the buyer's race or gender.

The sale was organized by the Young Conservatives of Texas, who said it was intended as a protest of affirmative action.

A sign said white males had to pay $1 for a cookie. The price was 75 cents for white women, 50 cents for Hispanics and 25 cents for blacks.

Members of the conservative group said they meant no offense and were only trying to protest the use of race or gender as a factor in college admissions.

where do you stand on sexism?

for instance here in UK, some clubs and pubs have a sign saying for instance "Wed night, Ladies night, all ladies drink for free"

I don`t really find it that offensive, but if it were the other way around, no one would ever get away with it, not for long anyway.

meh, that doesn't really bother me. We've been treating special since we finally stopped dragging them by their hair in the stonage.

Affirmative action here in the states bothers the life out of me. Basically because minorities are "opressed" and have "less chance of succeeding" than a white male in the US, they get into medical schools, graduate schools, jobs, etc. with LESS qualification. Howard Medical, which caters to minorities here in the states, has an average student GPA of 3.0 (B) and MCAT of 21. Thats absolutely rediculous. Even Carribean schools have higher standards. Every other medical school in the states has a student GPA average of around 3.3-3.6 and MCAT around 27, with the upper ranking schools having an avg of 3.7-3.8 MCAT around 32.

GRRRRRRR

You are thinking men would complain about having a high concentration of girls drunk an giggly in a club?

Unless a group of them decide to pester you. Which  they seem to do to me, if they are all over 30 an drunk. WHY????
