When you look at any Solid object at a molecular level all the molecules are tightly packed together moving fractionally in all directions, but in a Liquid and Gas the molecules are widely spread apart more so in the Gas which allows us to travel through water and oxygen. If you could construct a wall with the molecules are spaced evenly apart this would allow it to be walk through and to make it solid a freezing chemical can be used to stop the molecules on the spot instanty causing the wall to become solid.

This may just be a load of old **** but its been on my mind eversince my girlfriend moved in next door and we wanted to get rid of the joining wall but counldnt because of council lol

If you believe you can further this idea please contact me on

Whilst it may be theoretically possible to stop all molecular level almost instanteneously by some super fast cooling method it would not help you.

The reason it is a liquid is because the molecules are moving fast enough to overcome (to an extent) the intermolecular forces. So when you move through water you can do it, because the intermolecular bonds are not that strong so you can easily part molecules, allowing you to pass through it.

If the molecules were not moving they would attract each other and would naturally just come together. Furthermore if you tried to walk through it the particles would not move out your way because the intermolecular bonds are again strong (they were only weakend in a liquid due to the high energy the particles had, when you cooled then you removed this energy).

To demonstrate it practically try walking through water. Then freeze the water and try walking through ice.

No matter how quick you make that cooling process the fact is that you are changing the liquid to a solid. Quite frankly the liquid couldn't care less whether this is done in 5 minutes or a nanosecond.

But why are you complaining? Try having a girlfriend who is a 30min drive away! You're complaining that you have to walk a good 5 meters next door, you're lucky!
