Cap'n Refsmmat Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 I just read an interesting article in Scientific American about how Darwin didn't really become an evolutionist in the Galapagos after discovering all of the species there.
ecoli Posted February 10, 2006 Author Posted February 10, 2006 Yes, I saw that in documentary. He made the observations in Galapagos, then compiled these observations into his now famous, evolutionary tree, sometime afterwards. I expect the idea took some time to mull over in his brain. Hardly surprising, considering how revolutionary it was. He would have had to compete with his creationist training and other creationists while creating the theory. I just came back from my lecture. It was really good. The speaker was Eugeanie Scott. Author of "Evolution vs. Creationism" http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0520246500/sr=8-1/qid=1139542722/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-3752280-4295358?%5Fencoding=UTF8 , Executive Director of the National Center for Science Education and was a very dynamic speaker. She brought up some interesting points (outlined in her book) that I hadn't really considered which refuted ID (in terms of teaching it in the classrooms). She did a particularly good job of discrediting the so-called scientists that support ID. Hardly surprizing, as she was a plaintiff in the Dover trial, and did a lot of research for the case.
chemfreak Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 I almost got an honorable mention in boy scouts. I was about to strike a match an the inside of the white gas bottle.( i was stopped)
