ku Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Is it healthy to swallow your own burp? What if you swallow someone else's burp? Often while I eat I take a mouthful of water and while the water is in my mouth I burp. The gas enters the mouth from the throat and I assume the gas mixes with the water. If I open my mouth, would the gas escape through the water? Whenever this happens I never feel any bubbling sensation in the water nor do I feel any burp escaping, suggesting that the gas may be trapped underneath the water. I have no choice but to swallow the water with my burp trapped in this water. I could spit the water out but I often don't want to waste water or I don't have anywhere to spit it out.
ed84c Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 I think burbs are just a by product of food having air gaps in them and maybe a little bit from digestion/ reactions with your stomach acid. I shouldnt worry about swallowing burbs they propoably wont do anything bad. I think in teh example you gave, the burb may have escaped through your nose, that happens to me sometimes.
NeonBlack Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Swallowing someone else's burp? What the hell is the matter with you?
JustStuit Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking it was strange.
EvoN1020v Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Often when I shallow my burps, I would force myself to shallow it, and when that happens, your throat will get hurt. It'll feel like flame for a few seconds, so I had to drink water to smooth it down.
rhiannon Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 i get that felling sometimes but i think that the burp just has a slight acid coating or something. but how the hell would you swallow someone elses burp??

starbug1 Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 the burp was in your stomach to begin with. It cannot harm you...it finds its way out sooner or later.
JustStuit Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 Well the acidity of throw up can damage your esaphogus if it is done too much but it is a liquid. It doesn't seems that burps would have any effect.
herpguy Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Making out??? CPR??? the possabilities are endfull(antontym of endless??) http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=endfull Anyway, it might be unhealthy. Does the burp taste bad?
