If theoretically, the Usa had to fight the 1940 german army, with their current army, how would they go about doing it? Assuming they wouldent nuke berlin, how would they go about doing it? I guess they would soften up all areas with persision bombing and cruise missiles, and then go in at night with night vision. Any other Ideas of the way it would be done?

Yeah, major sophisticated airwar aimed at eliminating the weaponry of the enemy followed by troop invasion. That's our bag.

If leadership is taken into consideration 1940s Germany would smash us today, but only because their leadership was evil and competent where ours is evil and incompetent.

We would probably know exactly where everything they had was, and could bomb anywhere precisely and with impunity, so I imagine we'd pretty much destroy destroy their whole offensive military before they even got to fire a shot. That is, until they figure out to hide in urban areas and rely on guerrilla tactics, in which case it would get very, very messy. Pretty much like Iraq, actually, except even worse.

The Mark V and VI did not exist in 1940.

Indeed. And the Mark III was rather pathetic.

Rommel's 9th Div. which lead the breakout from the Ardennes to the Channel was equiped almost exclusively with Czech armor.
