Darkblade48 Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Are you asking what will oxidize potassium? Your question is vague
YT2095 Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 or do you mean like: Nitrate, (per)chlorate, persulphate, perborate, percarbonate, etc... ?
RyanJ Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 or do you mean like: Nitrate, (per)chlorate, persulphate, perborate, percarbonate, etc... ? I'm guessing thts what KFC is asking based on past questions Goggle the names, should return safety sheets and information on the compounds. Cheers, Ryan Jones
jdurg Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Pretty much anything in existance will oxidize potassium.
KFC Posted February 23, 2006 Author Posted February 23, 2006 I Mean Like Potassium Nitrate or Potassium Persulphate.
KFC Posted February 23, 2006 Author Posted February 23, 2006 Want is the best Oxidizer that you can buy practically.
YT2095 Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 if you mean out of "household" chems that a kiddy can buy, probaly a mixture of Potassium and Ammonium Persulphate (usualy a 50/50 mix). although Sodium Percarbonate is good too!
KFC Posted February 26, 2006 Author Posted February 26, 2006 Is Ammonium dichromate a better Oxidizer Ammonium Nitrate or Potassium Nitrate for a rocket propellant.
akcapr Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 its worse, becuase youll get a bunch of chromium oxide, nad it wouldnbt work very well. Plus its more expensive. Go with KNO3. AN is alot harder to work with because its hard to light AN motors.
KFC Posted March 14, 2006 Author Posted March 14, 2006 Does Anyone Know The Best(As In What Would Go The Highest) Propellant But No Flash(Smoke, Or Glitter) Stuff.
RyanJ Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Does Anyone Know The Best(As In What Would Go The Highest) Propellant But No Flash(Smoke, Or Glitter) Stuff. Hmm.... Liquid Oxygen and something like [ce]N2O[/ce] in a special plastic tube (Partially as fuel, partially as a container for combustion) is what rocketeers use I believe. I don't think you'll be able to get hold of liquid [ce]O2[/ce] very easily as for the [ce]N2O[/ce] it can be madequite easily. Other types include from an oxidizer such as ammonium perchlorate or ammonium nitrate and then a fule source which is nomally solid. You can use Google to find more information. Cheers, Ryan Jones
5614 Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 What are some Potassium Oxidizers?Potassium dichromate [math]K_2 Cr_2 O_7 [/math] is used as a powerful oxidising agent.
KFC Posted March 18, 2006 Author Posted March 18, 2006 If I Add Equal Part Pure Hydrogen And Pure Chlorine In A Vial Will It Make Hydrochloric Acid Think It Will I'm Just Verifying It?
[w00t] Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 umm Hydrogen + Chlorine wont become liquid it needs to be diluted in water (mabye bubbled thro water not sure)
Darkblade48 Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Well, you might be using non-dried chlorine/hydrogen gas
KFC Posted March 19, 2006 Author Posted March 19, 2006 it will after it explodes, yes. Would It Brake The Vial?
RyanJ Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Would It Brake The Vial? Yes it would. Literally explodes. Don't try it lest you get noxious gasses everywhere. (HCl being a gas is not something you want to breath in). Cheers, Ryan Jones
KFC Posted March 22, 2006 Author Posted March 22, 2006 I Did It And It Didn't Explode. It Didn't Do Anything Visible.
RyanJ Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I Did It And It Didn't Explode. It Didn't Do Anything Visible. That was clever, trying it after a warning. It does explode if it did not then you did it wrong. I'm sorry to say it but the fact you tried it despite the warnings causes me concern Cheers, Ryan Jones Edit: More spelling errors than normal - fixed.
