KFC Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 I Have 10 Test Tubes Full Of Hydrogen. I Want To Put All Those Test Tubes Of Hydrogen Into A 350mm Flask. How Would I Do This And I Want It Pure As possible?
YT2095 Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 fill the flask and submerse it under water then turn it upside down, then pour the hydrogen gas up into the flask displacing the water.
KFC Posted March 10, 2006 Author Posted March 10, 2006 What If There Is More Volume In The 10 Test Tubes Then The Flask Can Fill But You still Want To Fill the Flask With The 10 Test Tubes Hydrogen. How Would You Do This
YT2095 Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 burn the hydrogen to make water and pour the water in the flask seriously, why don`t you just put it all into a flask that it WILL fit into, seal the flask and then inject high pressure water into it, the displacement will compress the gas.
KFC Posted March 11, 2006 Author Posted March 11, 2006 That A Waste Of Space And I Like Every Very Pure But I Guess That Is Pure Enough .
KFC Posted March 12, 2006 Author Posted March 12, 2006 Whut? I Meant The Mixture Of Water And Hydrogen As Being Unpure But There So Basic And Nonreactive Together It Does Not Matter . I'm A Neat Freak.
YT2095 Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 hydrogen wont react with the water, you could use anything to displace the gas if you wanted, marbles, rocks whatever... I just figured for ease of application on a practical scale water would do the job perfectly, now if I`de have used another Gas then you`de certainly have a point if it wasn`t contained within a bladder or something.
KFC Posted March 13, 2006 Author Posted March 13, 2006 I Could Fill Two Test Tube With Hydrogen. Connect Them With Tube And Fill One Test Tube With Water. Then The All Hydrogen Would Go To One Test Tube. Than You'll Have Two Atmosphere Of Hydrogen In One Test Tube. Then You Could Clamp The Tube And You Have Pressurized Hydrogen.
KFC Posted March 13, 2006 Author Posted March 13, 2006 Do You Think A Fish tank Pump Slightly Modified To Pump Water Instead Of Air Could Pump Two Atmosphere In A Test Tube ?
[w00t] Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 I dont think you can modifty a FIsh tank pump to pump water... and if you could. it would die.
insane_alien Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 why not just use a tube connected to a tap? or do you only have a well?
KFC Posted March 13, 2006 Author Posted March 13, 2006 I Have Very Bad Water Pressure In My Building. It Still Can Be Done Probably.
KFC Posted April 1, 2006 Author Posted April 1, 2006 Will A Pyrex Test Tube Or Flask Implode Or Explode When Depressurize Or Pressurized?
insane_alien Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 I Have Very Bad Water Pressure In My Building. It Still Can Be Done Probably. but you still have pressure so you CAN pressurize by the method i gave.
YT2095 Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 the water is only the Medium with which the space is taken up without contaminating the H2. How you make the water pressure is entirely up to you, a Gravity feed would be just as good or even a car type 12V compressor. Use your Noodle!
KFC Posted April 1, 2006 Author Posted April 1, 2006 Do You Know A Vessel That Would Be Suitable For 60 Atmospheres?
insane_alien Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 you want to compress 10 test tubes of H2 to 60 atm? gauge or absolute thats going to be a tiny volume.
KFC Posted August 22, 2006 Author Posted August 22, 2006 Does anyone know how to hook up an air tight system to the soda cap so you can suck out the air to a vacuum and then fill it with gas at some where 80 PSI?
