little_red Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Hey! I know its incredibly cheeky please excuse me but I just wanted to ask you a chemistry-related question.. Could anybody tell me what product would be obtained when estrone (C18H22O2) is treated with C6H5MgBr followed by acidification with dilute mineral acid? I dont usually have a problem with these types of questions but this one has a few of us stumped!? If any of you could help it would be great. Thank you
budullewraagh Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 you get the nucleophilic addition product- the carbonyl is reduced to an alcohol and the formerly carbonyl carbon has a phenyl group attached to it.
