JustStuit Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 I think the forum should have a time limit to posting, maybe even like 5 seconds. This could eliminate the accidental embarassing double post and spamming.
5614 Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 It does have a time limit, I know it does because it's stopped me posting in seperate threads if I try to do it twice within 30secs... but then how can you double post? If I've ever double posted then it was because I double clicked on the "post quick reply" button, that should be stopped by the time limit...
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 I think the code that handles quick replies isn't smart enough to register two quick replies in the same thread in a short period of time, as no page reloading is actually involved (AJAX and such). There are vB modifications that force double posts to be merged together into one post.
Sashatheman Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 all the other forums i visit prevbent double posting, surely the code is not that difficult
Dave Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 I'll look into it. Although I really don't think that it's such a big deal myself.
pcs Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 I'll look into it. Although I really don't think that it's such a big deal myself. Neither do I, but if it bugs people I'd like a way to at least make me think about double posting. In fact, I think I just double posted this morning.
Dak Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 i cant even delete my double posts I doubt that the mods would mind if you used the 'report bad post' button to flag your accidental double-post for deletion. [edit]Oh ok, just noticed that you can't report your own posts. hmm... maybe a delete button with a time-out of about 30 seconds would be useful for double/accidental/stupid posts [/edit]
