Hephaestus Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Dear All, a useful source of interesting chemicals are found "locked" up within the plastics we consume each day. Is there a simple and clean method of extracting say terepthalic acid and other derivatives from these?
Darkblade48 Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 I believe terepthalic acid can be extracted using a simple saponification reaction, with ethylene glycol as the solvent.
