even if someone has been very clever with photoshop, this has to be number one in my favourite outer-space images; i now desire a poster of it.

 

bit of a shame in the paper the authors don't mention the chirality of the helical nebula.

Hmm... interesting image!

 

The closest I could think would be the jets that are expelled from the centers of some galaxies, if two of these were orbiting each other in a regular, circular obit then they would make a pattern simmilar to that.

 

Maybe something simmilar on a smaller scalles?
