mattbimbo Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Padren posted this picture on the news forum yesterday of a double helical nebula - orignally published in nature last week. does anyone know what its chirality is?
Bluenoise Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 It appears to be a left handed helix, unlike DNA's right handed helix. Though the image is prettys sketching and lacking in depth, you could argue either way. But a left hand helix fits it more "naturally"
mattbimbo Posted March 24, 2006 Author Posted March 24, 2006 does anyone know if there is an equal probability of left and right-handed double helical nebulae?
Bluenoise Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 I'd assume so, but only since I know nothing about the topic and have no reason to believe otherwise
