lrokwild Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 I just wanted to recommend a couple of really good movies that talk about quantum physics. "What the bleep do we know" and "www.whatisthesecret.com" Both awesome movies - They talk about the power of our thoughts, and the universal law of attraction. What the bleep touches on the basic principles of quantum physics. Has anyone else seen these and want to recommend others like it? Cheers!
Perturbation Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 I'm not even going to start on how much I despise "What the Bleep Do We Know".
ecoli Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 I'm not even going to start on how much I despise "What the Bleep Do We Know". I agree... terrible movie.
aj47 Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 It appears that ''www.whatisthesecret.com'' doesn't work
ydoaPs Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 I agree... terrible movie. indeed http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/showthread.php?t=12277
lrokwild Posted March 28, 2006 Author Posted March 28, 2006 oops, "whatisthesecret.tv" and What the bleep was a cool movie, it got me into quantum physics. Its a good NEWBIE movie.
ydoaPs Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 no, it is horrible for every level. pseudoscience+new age bollocks!=good
Anjruu Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Its a philosophy movie, not a science movie. As long as people don't confuse it as such, its fine. What bothers me is that people will inevitably confuse it. It should come with a warning "5 out of 5 real physicists agree that the movie is complete crap, on a mathematical level."
lrokwild Posted March 28, 2006 Author Posted March 28, 2006 can you guys/gals suggest something else i can watch? I love Quantum physics! Maybe you can recommend a good book, something thats not too complex.
Perturbation Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Its a philosophy movie, not a science movie. As long as people don't confuse it as such, its fine. What bothers me is that people will inevitably confuse it. It should come with a warning "5 out of 5 real physicists agree that the movie is complete crap, on a mathematical level." They use accepted, well established science to sell pseudo-science under the guise of philosophy.
5614 Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Get: In Search of Schrödinger's Cat or the sequel Schrödinger's Kittens both by John Gribbin. The sequel requires much of the knowledge given in the original. An understanding of the many fundemental laws of quantum mechanics. By the sounds of it I'd recommend you read the first one first.
