Jok Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Hi. This all started when I was about 10 or 11. I always yawn (sometimes It's even hard to make a complete yawn) and deep breathe. Like if I don't have enough air in my lungs. Now I am 14 and It still continues. Also It seems like it's hard to breath only when I think about it. When I do something (homework or some important job) I forget about it and it gets OK. Maybe my brain "forgets" to breath normally or something?? Also when I turn my body up-down, left-right I hear very strange sounds from my lungs. Like if all the air there comes out. When I told about it to my parents they said like - "don't worry about it. You will get used with it Can anyone tell me what to do? How can I live with it? I always yawn in public places and school and everyone thinks I am a moran
insane_alien Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Go to a doctor! now!! chances are its nothing serious but still go see a doctor. if your parents won't make an appointment go do it yourself.
Jok Posted March 29, 2006 Author Posted March 29, 2006 now!! Is it that serious???? But yeah, I am gonna go to doctor. But what doctor? And do I have to take my Health Ensurance Card? PS We don't have a family doctor
insane_alien Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 umm not sure how the healthcare system works in the USA. but i mean if your finding it hard to breath thats sort of serious cause if you can't, you die.
Jok Posted March 29, 2006 Author Posted March 29, 2006 Well, I lived with it for 3-4 years... But this is the only my consolation
insane_alien Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Well if it was me i'd have went and got it checked out maybe a week after i first noticed it, if not sooner.
Jok Posted March 29, 2006 Author Posted March 29, 2006 Even if you were 10? And totally depended on your parents? Anyway my general question was - what doctor do I go to? and do I need money for that?
insane_alien Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 If you are anywhere other than britain, i don't know. I'm not familiar with the healthcare systems. here in britain, i'd go to a GP(general practitioner). ask your parents, or a teacher if you prefer, or someone from the same country as you on this forum.
Phi for All Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Is it that serious???? But yeah' date=' I am gonna go to doctor. But what doctor? And do I have to take my Health Ensurance Card?PS We don't have a family doctor[/quote']You need to tell your parents that you're concerned and want it checked out. If you're in British Columbia, you should check with your health insurance provider for a respiratory specialist. You should NOT be soliciting medical advise from people who are not doctors. Get this checked out, it's worth whatever it costs.
6431hoho Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Wow. I have the same symptoms. I thought it was asthma or something like that.
Jok Posted March 29, 2006 Author Posted March 29, 2006 To 6431hoho Really???? I already bagan to think that I am the only one with this illness. Have you already gone to a doctor? By the way, I also thought that it's astma check with your health insurance provider for a respiratory specialist. Where do I find him? Get this checked out, it's worth whatever it costs. Of course it is. But it looks like my parents don't think so and I have to do it myself
herpguy Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Really???? I already bagan to think that I am the only one with this illness. Have you already gone to a doctor? By the way' date=' I also thought that it's astma[/quote'] Nope, and 6431hoho isn't the only other one. I get things somewhat similar to what you described. I went to the doctor, nothing was wrong. But that is me, not you. I will repeat what almost everyone in this thread has already said: SEE A DOCTOR ASAP!

Phi for All Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 But it looks like my parents don't think so and I have to do it myselfYour parents don't want to pay for you to see a doctor? Have you demonized them in the past? This is what happens when you don't do as you're told as a child. Are you in the US or Canada?
Jok Posted March 29, 2006 Author Posted March 29, 2006 Right now I guess I will go to our local hospital Are you in the US or Canada? Canada Your parents don't want to pay for you to see a doctor? Do I have to pay? Because we have health insurance
Phi for All Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Has the problem been getting worse? If it has, the hospital might be best. I know Canada has socialized medicine, but that just means everybody is covered. I think you still have to pay a minimum amount, and insurance copay or something like that. In the US it's usually between US$10-$40 depending on your coverage. You should inquire locally to see what the costs are, if any. There's probably a number to call on the back of your Health Insurance Card.
Jok Posted March 29, 2006 Author Posted March 29, 2006 Has the problem been getting worse? If it has, the hospital might be best. I don't think so. But it's strange that I have periods of time when I am OK and when I am not OK. For example I feel the best in winter and summer but in autumn and spring my breathing becomes hard

For example I feel the best in winter and summer but in autumn and spring my breathing becomes hardThere are definitely some medications they can prescribe that will help. Your family really should have a healthcare provider.
Jok Posted March 30, 2006 Author Posted March 30, 2006 I talked to a nurse. She gave me the address where I can find a respiratory doctor. Also she said that I don't need to bring money at all - only my health insurance card. I am going to go there at weekends.

Your information shouldn't be used to diagnose others with similar symptoms, but we want to know the outcome (because we care and we're curious) and your results with the specialist could encourage others to be brave and seek a cure. Well done!
Nacelunk Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 You know what - I think I also have these symptomes... I use some kind of aerosol and it helps me
Jok Posted April 2, 2006 Author Posted April 2, 2006 So I went to a doctor. He checked my X-Ray photo - seems like OK. He said that I probably have astma and gave me an aerosol. If I feel better after using it, I have astma. If not, then I will get to go through more tests.
JustStuit Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 I have asthma and I experience the same not able to breathe enough air sometimes. Most of the times when I have an asthma attack I just feel pain and inflamed. I'm not sure why I have two different types of asthma attacks. I was prescribed Albuteral (spelling?) and it usually works. Occasionally it will not work even when I exceed the maximum dosage so I have to stop and deal with it. I have been with two asthma doctors and neither of them would prescribe or identify why it didn't work or why I have the two types. Good luck, I hope the aerosol thing works. I know how painful it can be. One time I was stuck in Chicago and had a really bad attack but I had forgot my inhaler. That was not a good night. Luckly, the attacks have become less and less frequent. Sometimes I go weeks or months without them.
insane_alien Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 While i don't have asthma, i know it can be a bit of a bitch.there is this guy who swims at a pool i used to work at and he is a really awesome swimmer but once he had an asthma attack while just doing a few relaxed legnths to warm up and he almost drowned(he's a heavy sod to lift out of a pool). that event really brought it home to me how badly asthma can affect someone.
Jok Posted April 2, 2006 Author Posted April 2, 2006 Actually, I don't think I have asthma (or maybe another type of it?) The symptomes are a bit different. 1) First of all It's difficult to breathe almost all the time. 2) I can breathe but I always have to make deep breaths or yawn. (by the way - why do we yawn?) 3) Also that aerosol doesn't work yet. 4) Another reason is that I've never had really serious attacks like JustSuit had. 5) I don't have any pain in my chest. So, I guess I will have to go to a respiratorial specialist.
