e_deb_2002 Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 can anyone tell me how i can measure the distance from one point to another with something like lasers or whatever (i.e. not by direct surveying)
swansont Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Are you limited to certain equipment? If you have line-of-sight, you can do it with a laser, but you need some other equipment. You could also use GPS if you have sky exposure.

Sisyphus Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 If it's two points on the surface of the Earth, you can measure the difference in angle of shadows at the two locations at the same time to get a fraction of a circle, then multiply by the circumference of the Earth. But I agree, we need more information.
