Ice_Phoenix87 Posted November 2, 2003 Posted November 2, 2003 heya, what are the biotic features of a aquarium. what is the proper meaning of biotic. thanks
dagaz Posted November 4, 2003 Posted November 4, 2003 The word 'biotic' literally means 'living thing' so the biotic features of an aquarium are just those things in it which are actually living - plants, animals, etc.
Glider Posted November 4, 2003 Posted November 4, 2003 The term could also be used to describe the features of an aquarium that allow things to live in it; water Ph, microbial action (breaking down fish waste), oxygenation (plants, light and volume/surface area ratio) etc.. All the things which make it a stable environment capable of suporting life.
Guest GC_Rock Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Water ph is actually an Abiotice feature that means 'non living'. Other Abiotic features are dissolved oxygen, temperature, rainfall etc.
