Biochemically it consists of much the same stuff as the rest of your body. Perhaps your more interested in physiology and cell types?

all of you Thus far Do understand that your "Answers" are NOT on the molecular scale as specified in the OP but on the Macro Cellular level at best?!

I understand that perfectly. But its hard to give an answer to such a vague question. Personally I think he/she is probably more interested in what goes on at the cellular level. If he/she is indeed interested in what goes on at the molecular level they should be more specific....such as maybe what type of signalling goes on to bring about erections.

well magic happends in the Penis DNA strings...

 

cos.. you cannot just pump something full of blood and then it will become stiff like that. Normal DNA tissue crosses with an angle of about 45 degress for most bendability. But when blood gets pumped into the Penis the DNA tissue changes and then it crosses at an angle of exactly 90 degress that makes sure its not so easy to bend.

 

But that tissue cannot be made again so if you damage your penis to much in one place it will start to bend because the new tissue that your body has builded doesnt have changeable DNA tissue.

Yea more on the molecular side. I know it was vague. I'll try to narrow it down a bit. I've actually got a few questions.

 

1. Genetically what signals the penis to grow during adolescence?

2. Is it a genetic switch that controls growth?

3. I know it's made up of cells, but what type of cell specifically? We have a lot of different ones, don't we?

I don't think theres nothing extradionarly different between cells of a penis compared to regular somatic cells of the body. The penis has little to do with the biochemistry your looking for. The biochemistry of the 'penis' takes place in the tesis. Thats where the magic happens, as was mentioned.

What does tell it to stop grow...is it reduced testosterone...or nervous stimuli???

Does testosterone really determine the final length of the penis? I don't really think that is the answer. I'm sure that the proteins and other biochemicals that comprise it make it what it is, but the master genes are what determines it in the end. The DNA must have a present gene that determines length, however the hormones will turn on that gene.

 

Proteins, hormones, and other chemical signals act as biochemicals.
