Daecon
I just tried changing my email address but got an error message saying my email address (the one I was going to change it to) was banned. What's that all about?
5614
I don't follow. What email service? Maybe it was already taken or something.

ecoli
I have the same problem. perhaps you could tell us what the problem exactly is, then.
Royston
The problem is, when you register this message appears... * The administrator has banned your email address. To contact the administrator click here And when you try to change you E-mail / password details, under edit profile. Obviously I used my other E-mail address when trying to register. Is it because you can't register under the same ISP address, to stop trolling or is there a genuine error ?
Cap'n Refsmmat
You can't change your email address to @msn.com, @hotmail.com, and so on. Only addresses from non-free providers. We're hoping it will cut down on incarnations of revprez and such. If you really need the address changed, you should talk to an administrator. We'll need to reconsider this anyways. Genecks
You could always get an email provider that is new and not on the ISP block list.
JohnB
We'll need to reconsider this anyways. Why? Every ISP in Australia offers at least 3 email addys to clients (I assume the rest of the world is similar), so a non free addy shouldn't be a problem for anyone. Allowing @hotmails etc would open the door to the trolls. Just my 2 cents.
Cap'n Refsmmat
That's what we thought too, but it appears some people need to use free addresses.
Royston
It's a tricky one, I guess you don't want to deter new members who have free E-mail addresses, but stop trolling. Is there no way you can stop two user i.d's under the same ISP address ? Atleast that would mean banned members would have to go out their way if they wanted to cause problems, not full / fool proof, but certainly a deterrant ? Just an idea. P.S I havn't tried to register as two seperate users before, it was purely for the sake of this thread.
1veedo
Sometimes free services are better than what you may get with your ISP, business, or whatever. I use Yahoo cause gaim automatically notifies me when I get messages. Just a neat little feature. AOL users get a shitload of spam as well. All my AOL friends use hotmail, yahoo, or some other service for their email. And I know for a fact that charter's email is crap. People like Yahoo try to make good services because that's what they're about. ISPs are about providing Internet, not email. Plus, the entire effort, be it beneficial or not, is futile. There are too many free providers out there.
