albertlee Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 I am trying to set up a php based proxy server using anon proxy server: http://anonproxyserver.sourceforge.net/ I followed the installation guidance and I still cant get it run........ http://www.supershare.co.nr/ Above is the address of the configuration panel of my proxy server. Locally, at my computer, I have alreay set the "automatic proxy configuration URL" on my FireFox according to the instruction already. SO, shouldn't be a local problem, but my server is problematic. Please help thanks ps, well, this proxy server will be used for my school so I can earn some credits for Community Service hour at my school, which I dont think you know what mean.
albertlee Posted May 26, 2006 Author Posted May 26, 2006 The problem is, after my FireFox is configured, when I try to access, say google.com, or yahoo.com, amazon.co.uk etc etc... I always get a blank page or an "unable to connect" sort of page. Strangely, I can connect to my proxy server panel: http://www.supershare.co.nr/, which is on the internet, and any other subdirectories. Any way, please help
5614 Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 I can't help.. but don't be so impatient! Wait for a bit. A lot of the people here have exams and are not online everyday. For now just don't use the proxy until you can make it work.

albertlee Posted May 26, 2006 Author Posted May 26, 2006 Thanks for your replies Dak I've tried pinging every domain, including google.com, and yes, no response at all. So, does any of you know how to resolve it? thx alot (sorry for the impatience)
Dak Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Did you click the link in my last post? Did it take you to google, or give you an error?
albertlee Posted May 26, 2006 Author Posted May 26, 2006 Without following the instruction (see the hyperlink in my first post), yes, of course I can go to Google via that ip. That's simply without connecting to my proxy server. But after following that instruction, yes, either the page is completely blank (white) or an error page appear. Please help
Dak Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 ah, well if you can't access google through your proxy using my link, then it's not a DNS issue (like i said, it was a guess). You'll have to wait for someone a bit more familiar with proxys to come along, i'm afraid.
Dave Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 In the configuration panel, your "allow" block doesn't actually allow anybody to connect to the proxy. Modify your existing 'host' rule to allow connections from the IP address from which you are connecting to the proxy.
