hamseen Posted June 7, 2006 Share Posted June 7, 2006 Hi, im a keen (thats not how its spelt is it?) chemist, and am trying to obtain nitric acid, of any concentration, as long as it dosnt have to many impurities, other than internet sourced products, what else is it in, ive heard about it being used ot etch copper, and in drain opners, but anyothers? anyhelp would be much appreciated Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

[/quote'] I'm not quite sure where you are hearing these things from, but I've never seen nitric acid used for these purposes. Copper etchant was always ferric chloride, in my experience, and drain openers are usually either sulfuric acid or sodium/potassium hydroxide based.
