Hi, im a keen (thats not how its spelt is it?) chemist, and am trying to obtain nitric acid, of any concentration, as long as it dosnt have to many impurities, other than internet sourced products, what else is it in, ive heard about it being used ot etch copper, and in drain opners, but anyothers?

I'm not quite sure where you are hearing these things from, but I've never seen nitric acid used for these purposes.

 

Copper etchant was always ferric chloride, in my experience, and drain openers are usually either sulfuric acid or sodium/potassium hydroxide based.

Hamseen, forget about nitric acid in OTC products. You'll either have to go to a special chemical supplier, or you have to make it yourself from H2SO4 and KNO3 or NaNO3.

What kind of experiments are you thinking about, when you have HNO3? Maybe we can help you with easier to obtain alternatives.
