Guest T.M.
I cant fully explain the Episodes I experience, so I'll try my best...and I should see a Doctor about it, but wanted to try here anyways. The Episodes im speaking of started when I was a young boy around the age of 10-11 then they stopped for a number of years and started again when I was 17..I tried to learn to control them and keep them from happening and had been successful until now..I had a very intense one last night. I can best describe them as an Intense emotional cognition...My mind can only think in an absolute emotional state..I cant think of simple things or normal cognitive thinking patterns i.e. I am walking, I am getting a glass of water. I can perform the tasks, but I cant evaluate the actions beforehand in a normal manner. The only way I’ve learned to stop it is to count my breathing or repeat a quote over and over to try and concentrate on only that specific thing. when I was younger I thought of them as a voice in my head or an outside entity that was controlling my thoughts and emotional state...I am a healthy 24 years old male I was severely depressed as a result of losing my mother to cancer when I was 13, and I honestly don’t see it as a form of schizophrenia, because its not really controlling me. or I don’t loose recognition of what Im doing. or have a second personality. Please if anyone has every felt these episodes as well please respond..Im afraid to tell my family and friends for lack of belief or misunderstanding, because in actuality I don’t understand them at all.. I told my shrink about them when I was 17 and he just put me on anti-psychotics, which I feel is not the true answer to this issue that I have. Thanks for your time - T.M. Nevermore
What do you mean a purely emotional state? Do you mean instead of thinking one thought, you have a sort of a buzzing emotion that consumes all?
Guest T.M.
yes, but not just one emotion its like an onslaught of multiple emotions and thoughts that are at there full cognition, they dont seem to be my own, or rather brought on from my own conscious... lasts on avg for about 30 min
YT2095
do you sleep well at night?
scicop
Sounds like bout of bipolarism. You may not have bipolar disorder, but you may be in the prodromal stages. The doctor most likely put you on a atypical antipsychotic to prevent a full on-set, and i'm most certain he prescribed some form of psycho-social therapy. HOWEVER, these question should be presented to your physician

Nevermore
Are they disturbing or stressful emotions?
Guest T.M.
Well the overall experience is a little disturbing and stressful, just because I don’t know why its happening. I remember when I was 17 there were a number of times when I felt the presence of the emotions were not from a moral or ethical place..if that makes any sense. but they are not mainly an anger or happy emotion. I say emotion because it’s the closest thing that I can relate them too. I cant catagorize them each individually as a specific emotion...however Im filled with a feeling of absolute realization of the "emotions" i.e. there full extent, or extreme, at the most they can possibly be, but Im not like extremely mad one second then extremely happy. I cant catagorize them specifically. Maybe because when looking back after the episodes I cant pinpoint a specific moment and what that specific “emotion” was. Its hard to pinpoint them during the experience. There is a huge sense of fulfillment too, almost euphoria or intoxication. And no they can not be flashbacks from acid or other psychedelic drugs. For they started happening way before I experimented with drugs in highschool. It also does not make me hallucinate. There is also never any physical pain whatsoever. The only practical explanation I can think of is a chemical imbalance in my brain and spine that developed when I was born. I guess I’d just like some explanation or to hear if anyone else has felt these experiences too. I’ve searched a lot, but never found anything that explains the same experiences. Nevermore
You're in luck. I know what this is, and I've got it too. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. My best advice is try not to introvert too much. Go be active; build somthing, play some sport. Anything to take your mind off your thoughts.
YT2095
Yes I sleep very well at night. the reason I asked is that sometimes when overtired it IS hard to string 2 thoughts together properly, and with prolonged periods of tiredness and restlesness each night, this can manifest itself during the daytime too, low blood sugar can cause confusion also. Go and see your doctor again and explain everything to them once more, write things down as a reminder if you like so they can know exaclty your symptoms with nothing missing, then let Them make the diagnosis
