Is someone trying to steal my Wikipedia username?

For months now I've been getting spammed by password notices in email that are telling me that someone ("probably me" it says) is trying to change my password. The email gives me a new password, and tells me that I can use it or keep using the old one.

 

What do you guys think? Is someone trying to steal my user ID?

Probably. Perhaps there's a bot going around trying to get usernames/passwords of Wikipedia accounts. Try asking a Wikipedia administrator in the Community Portal to see what they can do. They may be able to block whoever's doing it.

I thought about changing mine on Wikibooks, but most people ignore Wikibooks.

I rather think someone else has a very similar user name, and when they type it in wrong it doesn't work, so they click the "forgot password link."
