confused Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 the government is adding fluoride to your water for mind control purposes... maybe you should invest in a good water purifier
LittleBillyBob Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Get your water by eating lots of fruits and vegetables and you won't have to drink it from a bottle or tap. inzombiak Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 (edited) If ... virtually the same response to any temperature water from any source, then ... a general hypersensitivity to water, or a bacterial infection. ... ability to utilize electrolytes or sodium. ...the other drinks would... replace ... sodium or electrolytes ... Water would ... dillute those levels, and ... cause ... cramping. Very interesting post. Your answer seems reasonable and is worth more investigation. I have the same problem with water as the oringinal poster, water makes my stomach cramp, I feel bloated and nauseated after ingestion, and it doesn't seem to quench my thirst. I have tried adding lemon, a little grapefruit juice, or sugar to make water more palatable and to see if the additional ingredients will help to make me less thirsty after I drink it. I prefer tepid water, I don't drink very cold water because it hurts my teeth and irritates my stomach but I still get relatively the same symptoms; bloating, nausea, etc. We have installed a filter on our sink and then we fill a container that has a built-in filter with the pre-filtered water. I get the same symptoms even when I drink bottled water. At least I know that I am not the only person who has this problem. People find it very strange that I get sick from drinking water. They criticize me for not drinking water saying that it is unhealthy to avoid it. Pain is a warning sign, it lets your brain know that something isn't right. Isn't it more unhealthy not to listen to your body and continue to do the things that cause it pain? Edited September 23, 2009 by inzombiak grammatical errors
Mr Skeptic Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 How about distilled water? What about saline solution (slightly salty, slightly sugary water)?

foodie Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 I registered just now because I HAD to reply to this. But also....I love this type of forum *sigh* it's been to long since I've been on a good forum. ANYHOW... I can not eat gluten (protein found in most grains), because I spent 20 years eating it....basically, I now have a lower level of acidity in my stomach, and I have a harder time absorbing nutrients from food. Sometimes if a person has a lower acidity level in their stomach furthering the alkalinity in your system (like diluting it with water) will give you a stomach ache. For those with IBS....that's like saying you have "headache syndrome" or like "stomach ache syndrome" it's not a diagnosis, it's a term they use for someone who has bowel issues, but they don't know why. MOST people with IBS, I am convinced have celiac disease, or gluten intolerance, whatever you want to call it. After the researching I've done, I really think IBS is tied mostly to food intolerances. anyhow...that's my two cents. Also...flouride and chlorine in water could make someone sick. Flouride repulses me, can't believe we're all forced to drink it in our water systems. BLEH! I feel nauseous when I drink cold water...every time. I also can't drink a lot at once. But if you want an early death, keep drinking soda. GROSS. Soda is one of the WORST things you could put into your body.
greenprogrammin Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Possibilities not addressed: pH of the water ORP (Oxidation Reduction Potential) Addiction to Pepsi and/or Coke products I know the addiction one is most likely going to be frowned upon. But if you think about the stomach how it is used to acidic drinks and high levels of sugars, etc... will cause plenty of concern. I think most of you that drink soda and other crappy drinks should really consider the health problems associated with them. You really just need to do like they do in the military. SUCK IT UP! Adapt!!! If the water is good drink it! If it is over treated you need to distill it. If you think you are intollerant then you should never drink another soda again!!!! Drink only water... So much disease related to all the flavored sugar water out there. Anyways... That's my advice/opinion.

Adapt!!! It's the parents these days - If I complained about water when I was a kid I would have got a sharp frown and a telling off "just drink it - it's good for you! - what's wrong with you!?" Might have been alittle uncomfortable at first but you get used to it. Water is the most refreshing drink there is (unless you're adicted to coke - then there's nothing like it) - if you get back after a 5 mile run in the sunshine then NO-ONE is going to turn down a nice glass of water - and of course it might feel uncomfortable on the way down - it's life.. We've all been a bit spoilt maybee? If you lived in some parts of Africa you would do almost anything for a glass of water. You'd drink it or die. You really just need to do like they do in the military. SUCK IT UP! Adapt!!! Military or with old fashioned parenting.
DiamondDaveMD Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 You have an Ulcer/Acid Reflux or even "H-Pylori" (Helicobacter pylori bacteria). Sucks. Mine always feels beter with Beer (just not too much). Does it get worse with stress or tomato based foods?
hoosier Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 I have to say that I have the same problem: it doesn't matter what temperature the water is, or whether or not it came from the tap or is bottled water. Don't get me wrong, I will drink it if nothing else is available or if I am taking medications, but other than that I stick to plain, unsweetened iced tea. I don't care for sugar in my drinks, and that includes soda. So while some people who are "addicted" to soda may experience stomach pains or nausea, it's not a clear cut explanation. I have no idea why I feel this way myself. I'm in pretty good health, in relatively good shape, I exercise and eat right. The doctor diagnosed me with IBS, and I know exactly what that means: they have no idea why my stomach hurts. I know that I am slightly lactose-intolerant, but I don't drink milk (never liked the taste), don't eat cereal in the morning, and I try and stay away from things that contain a lot of milk like ice cream. But water? That's hard to stay away from. The bloated, sick feeling I get is almost immediate and it lasts a good half hour or so before it starts to subside. It kind of feels like my stomach is ready to float away. Even so, I find that I drink about 32 ounces of water a day, sometimes more. This is a constant everyday feeling, but I know I need the water, especially now because I'm pregnant and hydration is very important. It's just unfortunate that there aren't too many options for me to drink, but that's because I don't like to drink my calories (it adds up much quicker than people realize), so I stick to the tea and water, no matter how water makes me feel.
Mr Skeptic Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 hoosier, are you willing to experiment? Try drinking a solution of 1 teaspoon salt in 1 quart of water. Does that make you feel sick?
Ahamed Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Hope this helped your questions.. just look into this post.. http://globaltutor.blogspot.com/2010/04/can-wet-hair-make-you-sick.html Hope u liked this.. pls make a comment too if u like it.. -1
PhDwannabe Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Ahamed: It appears that you deleted the comment I wrote on your blog there. That's pretty bad form, dude. You've taken this thread pretty far astray with a link to your blog post about the mechanism by which you suppose wet hair makes you sick. <heavy sigh> At the risk of continuing that particular offtopicness, I wanted to make sure that my comment goes down in indelible internet ink that you're not able to delete. You say that: There is a myth that when you have a shower at night and if you didn't dry it you will get sick. Actually this happens not because of the wet hair but because of the immune system gets weaken. You go on to explain that the water in one's hair, with its high heat capacity, facilitates the loss of heat from the head. If I'm remembering my poor, innocent, murdered comment well enough, I noted that the myth and misunderstanding of grave heat loss through the head has been roundly debunked many times. Furthermore, I think I said that the homeostatic mechanisms of a normal person will prevent core temperature from dropping any appreciable amount from hair wet in the shower. Your immune system will not suffer any measurable deficit from shower-wet hair. With that, I'll excuse myself, suggest that you create new threads for new topics here (as well as stop deleting peoples' comments on your blog), and we'll let these nice folks get back to figuring out why water makes hoosier sick.
Ahamed Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 hey.. even i had said that this happens due to immune system getting weakened.. my post is logically saying that.. when the water heat capacity is high the tendency of heat loss is higher and when this happens on ur hair the rate increases by much more higher... therefore u get sick sumtyms.. but by the way i dont see any comment theere... i didnt delete it..u have not submitted it correctly..
Ahsan Iqbal Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I never heard of such condition before. This is very serious because water is life and if you are unable to drink water, you are a very unlucky man.
carebear Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 I was just doing an internet search on this same topic, because I am also getting sick when I drink water. Right now, my stomach is cramping, burning, I feel nauseous & have diarrhea. All this started first thing this morning when I started drinking a different brand of bottled water. It seems to happen with well water, city water & bottled water, some more than others. I had a colonoscopy & they found inflammation in my colon. I also have IBS & diverticulitis. I don't know if the inflammation is caused by the water, or the inflammation causes me to not be able to tolerate the water. I also have a scratchy, red throat most of the time which another reader mentioned. I used to drink vinegar & honey water (1/2 c. each of apple cider vinegar & water, to a gallon of water). That was the only way water didn't upset my stomach. I think I'm going to have to start drinking that again because I get too dehydrated with the present water situation.
nath88nael Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 More seriously, I think your problem is probably psychosomatic. Schultz, who was a physician, said that in its practical application, Autogenic Training is a system of very specific auto suggestive formulas to relax tensions and to alleviate psychosomatic disturbances, including many cases of insomnia, overweight, inability to concentrate, high blood pressure, constipation, skin problems, etc. (Karl Hanz Welz, Autogenic training) if it is psycosomatic, be open-minded about cures. most such cases are cured through non-conventional methods.
acneperfect Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 (edited) Drinking a healthy amount of water is vital to your health. You can never imagine just by drinking a healthy amount of water, you gain tremendous health benefits, and sometimes you can even throw away your migraine medicine or pain killer. genraven Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I've never heard of such a problem. I thought water was good for everyone. You might want to consult your doctor.
rktpro Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I've never heard of such a problem. I thought water was good for everyone. You might want to consult your doctor. Wow! Nice advice, really. An advice after 6 years is not too late.
CoRtNZ Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 The back of my throat always feels weird when I drink water to, not sure if that's normal or not, it's sort of a scratchy sensation. I have the same problem sort of. I've been told drinking hot/warm water is more beneficial to your health than drinking cold water. When I drink hot/warm water it gives me a sore scratchy throat and makes me feel really nauseous. But drinking cold water makes me absolutely fine, it's disappointing.
questionposter Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 (edited) Based on what has happened to me before, it sounds like some kind of bacterial infection. I can drink water fine now, but I've gotten food poisoning 5-6 times in my life, and I had to be careful with getting rid of it quickly because whenever I drank water, it made my stomach feel worse and in a lot cases I either threw or felt like throwing up the water. Even if you drink something and it makes you feel even worse, it's not necessarily that thing, it could be something that has been progressing before such as bacteria. I also noticed you said you drink a lot of milk, and even though I'm not clinically lactose intolerant, when I drink a lot of milk, I get a stomach ache, but only after a lot. Perhaps some biology person could tell us if when you drink too much milk in a glass in a room at room temperature that there is a high probability of there being enough bacteria growing in the milk and ingested to cause problems, because that might be it. Wallflower Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 I have the SAME problem. Very simply, drinking water makes me feel very sick! I can't drink pure water, water from the tap, or water from a water bottle. I can't drink water other than flavored water. That isn't a problem really, I can live on flavored water for the rest of my life, I don't really mind. But my problem starts when I run out of flavored water and I can't go shopping for more for a couple of days. I become very irritated because I would be VERY thirsty, and I would be tempted to drink water, but I know that if I do, I'll just become ill. HELP?!
