computerages Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 hi every1~! I was just curious that why everyone dies to get accepted into an ivy uni. Is it that unis have a big name which they can use to show off, and/or feel superior than others? Based on my experience, the only thing is the big name they have in most of the cases. I know a lot of people in my school who're taking ap classes just because to show off their transcript to teh college admission officers. What are your thoughts about it?

There is a baseline of knowledge of what having the degree means. Similar to buying a brand name or a cheaper alternative that you've never heard of.
