KLB Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 For those who ever wanted to be a fly on the wall at some major event like a G-8 summit, nows your chance. During a "photo opt", Bush Blair and others were caught talking candidly amongst themselves about the Israeli situation. CNN has been playing the recordings today and I'm sure the other news networks are doing the same. Very interesting.
ecoli Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 I'm at work with no access to a speaker... can you summarize what they said?
Severian Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 GW: "The irony is, what they need to do is get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this shit." Not very controversial.
ecoli Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 GW: "The irony is' date=' what they need to do is get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this shit." Not very controversial.[/quote'] except the profanity perhaps. He's got a point, too. Lebanon doesn't stop Hezbollah mostly out of fear and inability to act, not because it's their policy to support terrorism. Countries like Syria and Iran are a lot more supportive of terrorism. Of course, war with either of these countries is probably not a possibility for Israel at this point, without international support.
KLB Posted July 17, 2006 Author Posted July 17, 2006 I found the way they talk in "private" to be more interesting than the subject of the discussion.
GutZ Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 There is a video ( I don't know if its real) of GW drunk with a drink in hand talking to a reporter or something. Quite funny. http://politicalhumor.about.com/od/bushvideos/v/bushwedding.htm On Topic: I find it interesting to see how people converse behind the scene. I have a strong feeling that the government and advisors has a strong hold on what GW says, and that he is quite intelligent naturally, but they don't allow him to express himself. Doesn't help that he isnt the greatest public speaker.
Jim Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 You've just got to laugh: “You eight hours? Me too. Russia’s a big country and you’re a big country. Takes him eight hours to fly home. Not Coke, diet Coke. ... Russia’s big and so is China. Yo Blair, what’re you doing? Are you leaving,” Bush said. Yo Blair?
ecoli Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 It is quite comical. Sort of reminds you that politcians are real people who talk about unimportant matters sometimes.
KLB Posted July 17, 2006 Author Posted July 17, 2006 Thanks for the sweater; it was awfully thoughtful of you. I know you picked it out yourself. If I were Blair, I wouldn't know how to take the second sentence of that comment. Was Bush saying Blair has really bad tastes in sweaters?
Pangloss Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 That kinda sounds like it might be a compliment to the first lady.
