chitrangda Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 a tree stands vertically on the bank of the river. from a point on the other bank directly opposite to the tree, the angle of elevation of the top of the tree is theta.from a point x meters behind this point on the same bank, the angle of elevation is 30.find the hight of the tree and width of the river. pls try solving:confused:
CPL.Luke Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 that problem isn't solvable without some more information, you either need to give the width of the river, the height of the tree, or the distance from the observer to the top of the tree.
hgupta Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 yes Luke is correct. you need some more information in order to solve it. i tried using the Trig., and Similar triangles concept but to no avail. please see if you are not missing any point.
