JohnB Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Ninemsn and Toyota are running a competition in Oz with the first prize being a sub-orbital flight. The only link I can find is the one to enter and entry is only available to citizens of Australia and New Zealand.( So to the rest of you. ) The prize includes air travel to launch point, accomodation and meals. Plus one sub orbital flight to at least 100 kilometres above the Earth. Honestly, I could just about wet myself at the mere thought of winning. And yes, I'm entering as many times as the rules allow.
Phi for All Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Is it some kind of drawing or do you have to write an essay or something to win this contest? I've seen some other contests where suborbital flight was the grand prize and it sounds so great! If you need online votes let us know. The only link I can find is the one to enter and entry is only available to citizens of Australia and New Zealand.( So to the rest of you. )Hey, watch it, they didn't say where they were going to drop you off, now did they? Probably push you out over the Americas with a chute at 30,000 meters!
insane_alien Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 a 30 km sky dive? that would be AWESOME thats like 6 times higher than i've jumped from. unless you mean 30000ft then its only twice as high but still awesome. you'll need oxygen cylinders for the jump though.

JohnB, will there be any zero-G training involved before the flight? That would be awesome just by itself.
JohnB Posted August 8, 2006 Author Posted August 8, 2006 The link is http://www.ninemsn.com.au/camry The way it works is you d/load a small vid of the flight. As the vid progresses 10 words become visible. After the vid you enter three of the words on the entry form. You can do this once per day. AFAIK the final winner is drawn from those who entered. Phi, you have to pass at least three medicals and there is some training beforehand, not much though as the flight is a "Spaceship One" type flight. Straight up and down.(And the camera would get a severe workout.) Oddly enough, my main though has been "Can I access the net?". Starting a "Greetings from Space" thread would be so cool. :D
