apollo2011 Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 I personally think there should be a General Math Forum for us to discuss about Math in general. Also, It would also be nice to have a Math Forum for posting Math Problems. What do you think?

What do you mean math in general? Math isn't general hehe You mean math problems for fun? We used to have that under the competition part.
Dave Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 I was thinking something along the same lines might be a good idea. The Calculus forum seems to have little to do with calculus anymore, and I reckon we should scrap Chaos Theory/Fractals and have a general math forum in its place.
apollo2011 Posted December 14, 2003 Author Posted December 14, 2003 NSX: Well just like news about Math and stuff like that. ex. I heard that some students just found the largest prime number ever. That topic could go in the Math General forum. I would definitely like to see a problems forum. Like you said, just for fun.
Dave Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 That already exists in the form of the Competition forum. E-mail me any problems you have and I'll put them up there.
blike Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 done. i'll probably end up merging some other forums into general math as well.
wolfson Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 Sounds good to me, more yummy math questions!!!!
Dave Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 I daresay people wouldn't miss the Geometry forum, or the Statistics forum.
Dave Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 Also just note that I shifted all the Chaos Theory stuff over to Modern/Abstract Algebra, which is basically what fractals and things like that are anyway.
