Lars Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 I need help with a maths assignment, Im having a brain block and I have a feeling that the forumula is really easy and Im just having a bad day, but this is basicly what I need to find out. (REALLY simple stuff) I have a rectangle I need to find the volume for, and I only have the length and width measurements for it. I need to find the height to calculate the volume (As Im sure you all know) volume is; width X length X height, so what have I missed, Am I having a brain block or is it something more complex? Please help, its due tomorrow. Its pretty much this, Looks simple but im stumped...
JesuBungle Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 Well since it's a triangle I would imagine you have to do that whole 1/2 base x height thing.
insane_alien Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 rectangles have 0 volume so your problem is solved! tada! for the prism you have in the image calculate the triangular end piece and multiply by the legnth. or you could halve the the volume of the cuboid if it were full(possibly the 'rectangle' you were talking about). if so, you have all the measurements you need right there.
the tree Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 You seem to have all the values you need there. [math]l(\frac{bh}{2})=2.5(\frac{1.5 \times 2}{2})=3.75[/math] I'm not sure which one you thought you were missing.
