Jim
Bush wants to eliminate Republican War Crimes Act Bush Aims to Kill War Crimes Act[/url']Says it was voted in by a Republican congress. How will they blame this on the libs? It is possible there is more here than meets the eye. I wouldn't immediately accept the Washington Post or an opinion piece in The Nation as providing objective truth.
ParanoiA
I don't see how it hurts Bush for this war crimes act to remain in place. The article says: Indeed, the Administration's decision to gut the War Crimes Act is a gift to those who want to see American statesmen held accountable to national and international law. It suggests that the Bush Administration itself recognizes the criminality of many of its actions. What's criminal about the administrations actions thus far? Either way, they shouldn't be tampering with the war crimes act. Bush should man up rather than weasel out of it.

ParanoiA
Guantanamo? dissapearing people usually falls under warcrime I said the administration, not the FBI or CIA. It could also be that Bush is trying to protect the military personnel involved in all of this. There is an undetermined amount of abuse going on in Guantanamo, but how much of it is sick fun and how much of it is done with desparate intentions? Bush could be somewhat conflicted considering some of this abuse may have resulted in gaining intelligence that has already saved some lives or helped nab other terrorists.
