I'm BACK!!!!...kinda...

Boot camp was quite a bit less difficult than I had anticipated. In fact, it was very easy. I had loads of fun when I wasn't bored to death. I think the best part was Battle Stations, but we're not allowed to talk about that. For those that don't know, I'm a nuclear machinist mate in the U.S Navy. I can't go to "A" school yet, though, because I have a medical appointment in a civilian hospital on Tuesday and I graduated from RTC Great Lakes Summer Camp, err, Boot Camp yesterday.

I get weekday liberty starting at 16 00, so I'll be in from time to time.

Yourdad, I'd like to start an SFN bookclub reading Smolin's

The Trouble with Physics...And What Comes Next

it is a really interesting book----positive and constructive as well as critical.

It discusses a bunch of new post-string developments.

Think about getting a copy. I'd like to hear your reactions.

You can find the book at the top of the amazon "general physics" bestseller list where it has been for over two weeks (since 30 August)

Depending on how long I'm on hold, I will have plenty of time to read. A few guys here were only supposed to be here for a few days and they have been here for a few months. I think mine will be quicker since I just have an appointment. After the appointment, I should be able to get my medical record and then get my new orders. This is the military, so it might take a while.

yourdad, hey, welcome back, but allow me to take the role I've been doing for three and a half years following my own bootcamp:

WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING IN FRONT OF THE COMPUTER, SOLDIER?! DONT YOU HAVE ANYTHING BETTER TO DO?! NOW GIVE ME 20! No, 50! No, 70!!! And salute, TOO!!! YES, WHILE YOU'RE AT IT, Can'T YOU MULTITASK!?

<resumes self>

Ah, amazing how I just didn't miss that :P

Good luck youdad hehe good to see you back, and great to hear bootcamp wasn't too bad ;)

I may be getting out of THU in a few days. I went to the pulmonologist today and he said there was nothing wrong with me. He said the calcifications are just a result of my exposure to Histoplasmosis. If my medical record is ready tomorrow, I'll put it in my packet so they can make my new orders. My school doesn't start until Monday, so They may be able to use my old orders and just get me a new ticket. Once I have my orders, I can sign out of THU and leave for Charlston the next day.
