Rajdilawar S
Hi, I am also a astronomy lover! I want to ask u a question! On what basis scientists say there are other dimensions? They talk about traveling in those dimensions will save our time!!! What does u think is it really possible or just a fake?
DaveC426913
There is no physical evidence of other dimensions, but mathematically, they have been proposed.
JHAQ
If I have understood super string theory as described by Brian Greene correctly the universe is multi dimensional & another one could be with us but not reachable because it is in another dimension . Maybe time will tell ----but for now mathematical speculation
ajb
If we take string theory as a serious candidate for a description of our world then we a forced to believe that extra dimensions exist. Technically, quantum string theory is inconsistant if it is not formulated in 26-d for bosonic strings and 10-d for superstrings. The reason is that these theories have a conformal anomaly in any other dimension and this spoils the quantum description. (It can also be understood as the no-ghost theorem and via BRST methods.) bascule
On what basis scientists say there are other dimensions? It mainly stems from Kaluza-Klein theory, which unifies electromagnetism and gravity within a five dimensional spacetime.
5614
On what basis scientists say there are other dimensions? They talk about traveling in those dimensions will save our time!!! What does u think is it really possible or just a fake? As others have suggested theories such as String theory says that there are more than 4 (3 spatial and 1 time) dimensions. The simplest reason for this, within string theory, is that the strings need to vibrate in quite specific ways. So all electrons are strings vibrating in exactly the same way. To allow for the correct vibrations for all the known particles there is a need for extra dimensions. The proof of this is very complicated maths! As for travelling in those dimensions as a shortcut, no.
