I hope i'm not being presumptuous but i assume in a science forum i won't have to explain what it means.

Personally I like 'how many roads must a man walk down'

is there any point? if someone says the right question then they will cancel each other out and take the universe with it. only for it all to be replaced by something a whole lot more complicated.

i think its the number of times its happened before.

Ummmm 54....
Not in base 13. Anways, a matter of priorities is in order. Do not by any means undertake any other projects until you have read the trilogy in four parts, (you can read the fith part whenever you feel like it, it's only brilliant).

I tend to think that it is the exact amount of planck units by which the Universe is not in equlibrium.

Personally I like 'how many roads must a man walk down'

How many roads must a man walk down

Before you call him a man?

Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail

Before she sleeps in the sand?

Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly

Before they're forever banned?

The answer, my friend, is Forty-two,

The answer is Forty-two.

How many times must a man look up

Before he can see the sky?

Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have

Before he can hear people cry?

Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows

That too many people have died?

The answer, my friend, is Forty-two

The answer is blowin' is Forty-two.

Q. What is the most verses of Vogon poetry any non-Vogon has ever endured before slipping into a drool-filled coma?

A. 42, currently held by a species of rodent on Eroticon Four which has no ears.
