alext87 Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 A particle is dropped from the top of a tower on the Earth's equator. As a result of the Earth's rotation, does it land slightly to the east, or slightly to the west of the tower?
Klaynos Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 You'll be wanting to use the equations: v= rw v is velocity r is radius w is angular frequency Work out whether v is higher or lower at the top compared to the bottom, as it'll be falling with horizontal velocity of that at the top.
